Seoul Busan Nation-Wide Taxi Strike Today

notice a rather fluid traffic in the almost stuck any-time of the day driving in Metropolitan Seoul ?

a nation-wide taxi strike went into effect since midnight, demanding realistic taxi fares due to rising LPG gas price . participating were a boggling :

  • 4 taxi and transportation-related associations
  • about 250 taxi companies amounting to
  • roughly 250,000 business taxis under their wings
  • and even 16,500 private taxis who chose to join brake-down

a welcome initiative to counter this mayhem : bus and subway seem to be arriving at almost double the normal frequency ~

enjoying the belated bus and subway ride, thanks to much-improved iPhone apps
